트럼프 국무부, 유엔에 기후변화보고서 제출 마감 넘겨

Alaska health officials are warning that serious health issues could crop up as the state warms. A report by the Alaska Division of Public Health released this week says longer growing seasons and fewer deaths from exposure are likely positive outcomes from climate change. But the 77-page report says additional diseases, lower air quality from more wildfires, melting permafrost and disturbances to local food sources also are potential outcomes. 【워싱턴 =  AP/뉴시스】차미례 기자 = 트럼프 행정부가 유엔에 제출하는 기후변화대책 보고서의 제출 마감일을 지키지 못했다.

 미 국무부는 올 1월 1일까지 유엔 기후변화협약 ( United Nations Framework Convention )에 이 보고서를 제출해야 했다.  트럼프 정부는 파리 기후변화 협약에서 탈퇴한다는 방침에도 불구하고 아직까지 협약에서 탈퇴하지는 않았다.

 국무부는 아직도 그 보고서를 제출할 계획이라고 밝혔지만 언제 제출할 것인지,  마감을 넘긴 이유가 무엇인지는 말하지 않고 있다.

  이렇게 보고서가 지연된 것은 오바마 정부가 강조하고 추진했던 기후변화관련 사업들을  현 정부의 각 부처가 우선 순위에서  낮추거나 미루고 있는 가운데 생긴 일이다.
 
  보고서 목록에는 온실가스 감축 계획과  대기 오염 절감 추진 세부 계획 등을 자세히 밝히도록 되어있다.   미 환경보호단체 생물 다양성 센터( Center for Biological Diversity )는 국무부가 이 보고서 문제를 빨리 해결하지 않으면 고발하겠다고 위협하고 있다.
